Fred Hicks of Evil Hat has done something rather innovative with the long-awaited Dresden Files. I'm not just talking about the game itself, but also the way in which he is selling it. With the huge response from the rpgnow.com Haitian appeal, I was intrigued to know what proportion of the people had downloaded products in the bundle. Here are a couple of graphs for GUMSHOE sales. They are monthly cumulative sales from the first date of release, through the distribution channel (that is via Impressions). Mark and Ralf have revamped the ProFantasy store so that it accepts PayPal. We hadn't done this before because we were concerned about the additional costs associated with people switching to PayPal where it is offered. Our merchant rates on credit cards are pretty good, and we'd prefer people to use those methods. But, only a relatively small ( Read more... )

Here, for the first time, are some sales trends for ProFantasy. This first graph shows the seasonal variation in our sales, averaged over the last seven years. Some of the big summer hump is down to us releasing major products in time for GenCon, but by no means all. It took us a while to work these trends out, and we no longer panic when sales ( Read more... )

Last year was a very good year for Pelgrane Press Ltd business-wise.  The total sales last year were greater than the previous six years combined. No surprise, really, with the release of Trail of Cthulhu, but it's still good, even without that.  If you deduct all the Trail stuff (about two thirds), you still get the best year in the last seven ( Read more... )

As I am now listed on IPR, I thought it might be nice to get all share-y with the data, as my fellow IPR publishers often do.

From its release to the end of 2007, The Esoterrorists has sold just over 1000 copies.  I'm really pleased with this - it's our best selling game (just) since The Dying Earth RPG. Nearly 20% of the sales are PDFs, and ( Read more... )
